John P. Decker Sr., 75 years, of Como, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2023 at Aurora Medical Center in Mount Pleasant.
John was born on April 13, 1947, to the late Clementine (Casa) and Edward Decker in Chicago, Illinois. He was united in marriage to Constance (Friehe) in March of 1966, in Illinois. The couple had two sons together.
John is survived by his loving wife, Constance, and children, John (Katie) Decker Jr., and Tom (Kim) Decker. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Shawn (Bianca) Decker, Jamie (Charlie) Carroll, Thomas (Kristen) Fischer, and Hunter (Nicolette) Davis as well as great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. John is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and in-laws.
John began his vocation as a truck driver at the age of 17 and continued driving throughout his life. When the kids grew older, John and Constance worked together as long-haul truck drivers, filling up the miles with each other’s company. An avid sports fan, John always kept up with the Wisconsin teams, especially the Brewers and Packers. He loved and doted on his dogs, Comet and Lucy. John enjoyed a simple life, watching and feeding the birds, fishing, and mostly, spending time surrounded by family.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, from 10:30- 12 p.m. at Williams Bay Lutheran Church (11 Collie St., Williams Bay, WI 53191) with refreshments to be served. Funeral service to follow at 12 p.m. with Pastor Tom Dowling officiating. Burial at Roselawn Memory Gardens (3045 WI-67, Lake Geneva, WI 53147).
