James Michael Halpin 77 years a lifelong resident of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and the surrounding area passed away to eternal life on Sunday, May 3, 2020. Jim was born February 15, 1943 in Elkhorn, WI son of the late James C. and Theresa (Schaeffer) Halpin.

Jim was fascinated by everything, but his loves were the railroad and area postcards. After retiring as an auto worker from Chrysler, his perfect day was driving where the road took him and talking to whoever was on the way. The Lord Blessed him with an abundance of days like this plus a wonderful blended family. Jim touched many people with his smile and the twinkle in his blue eyes.

James is survived by his wife Judy (nee: Stafford) Halpin, he was the loving father of Jeffery (Maria) Halpin, Sheila Eckliff and Jacob Halpin; stepchildren Alys (Andy) Adams and Paige (Steve) Sawar. He was the grandfather of Amalia, Nicholas, Nathaniel and Anna Halpin; Cole and Megan Adams; Bryn, Kyler, Ryley and Dayne Sawar. Jim is also survived by sister-in-law Shirley Halpin, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

I met Jim years ago at one of the many auctions that we both attended and was quickly amazed at his knowledge of the various people that we both saw at every auction, also his vast knowledge of trains both toys and the real ones. He always was glad to share whatever he knew about a subject and I was grateful to hear it. I was very saddened to hear of his passing even though I knew he had several health issues. I will miss his quick wit, his keen sense of friendliness and the adventure of just going somewhere to see what we could find. Thanks Jim, I will never forget you.

Jimmy and I were classmates at 3rd Ward School. We played in the neighborhood. I'd marvel at his butterfly collection. We cut out train cars from the back of cereal boxes - such fun! I have a snap shot of us kids lined up at my birthday party. Sometimes, we'd get "rowdy" at his house - his Mom talked to us nicely and we behaved ourselves. Jim's Dad gave us a pass and we took the C @ NW to Chicago - whew, was that something! These are a few "fragments", from so many, of those early "care free" days. Jim and I "happened" to get together a bit at the Walworth County Fair - guess it was about two or three years ago . . . . Suddenly, I miss him all over again. Blessings to all his family.

Judy, Jeff, Jake, and , of course Sheila. I am sorry for your loss. It was 20 years ago, when I opened Pray For More Stuff, when Jim showed up. He was the first of your family to check us out. So excited that an antique store would open just around the corner. Who would have know that Sheila and I would become sisters. We are entwined together. Sending condolences from me and my Mom Barb. Life is funny that just never know who you will meet. Jim was that guy. The first one to "check it out". Thank you for giving your daughter to me , as my sister.
