Obituary

GERI L. DICKSON, RN, PhD 1932 - 2021
Geraldine (Geri) L. Dickson, RN, PhD passed away peacefully on April 26, 2021. Born February 28, 1932 in Milwaukee, WI., she married young and had three children with her first husband, Leroy Lenzen: Brian, Lynnda and Kathie. After a car accident took Brian’s life, Geri began her nursing and academic career. She earned degrees from Milwaukee Area Technical College; Alverno College; Marquette University; and, in 1989, the University of Wisconsin-Madison awarded her the PhD.

Dr. Dickson’s contributions to the field of nursing research and education were many, including founding, leading and permanently funding the New Jersey Collaborating Center for Nursing (NJCCN) at Rutgers University in 1995. In 2009, she co-edited and published a graduate text, Nursing Policy Research: Turning Evidence-Based Research Into Health Policy.

Geri is survived by her loving husband of almost 42 years, Rev. Carlisle Dickson; and adoring daughter Lynnda; stepsons Joel and Robert (Yih- Ling); grandchildren Tony (Nadine), Jamee (Tracy), and Lauren; stepgrandchildren Michavel, Nicole, Maya and Evan; plus great- granddaughters Samantha, Paige and Alexandria. She was preceded in death by her son Brian; daughter Kathie; and parents Gilbert and Lillian (Rehbein) Morong.

A Memorial Service of Worship will be held at 2:00 pm, (3:00 pm Eastern Time) on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Apostle Presbyterian Church, 1509 South 76th St., West Allis, WI 53214; masks are optional. For ZOOM attendance: email lffhs@sbcglobal.net for a link.

If you wish to leave a reminder of a memory you shared with Geri, to be added to Geri’s Memory Book, please send about 200 words in an email to geldickson@gmail.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to The Claremont Lafayette United Presbyterian Church, P.O.Box 4392, Jersey City, NJ 07305; Geri was the Church’s First Lady for more than six years.

Geri was deeply devoted to her family, church, students and faculty in Romania and at UWM, NYU and Rutgers. Each of us is a better human being because of her love. Lazarczyk Family Funeral Home of Lake Geneva, WI is proudly serving the Dickson family.
